David Cottrell Obituary

David was born on December 14, 1954  from the union of William Cottrell and Mary Ford.  David was the oldest of his 3 siblings.  He attended Pittsburgh Public Schools and graduated from Peabody High School in 1974.

After graduating from high school, he began working for Montore Railroad Company.  Shortly after, David would have his first child Michael Butler.  In 1982, David went on to marry his childhood sweetheart, Carmen (Renee).  From this union, three children were born, David, Lashawn, and Samantha Cottrell.

After working for the Railroad Company for many years, David began a 30 year career with Giant Eagle Market District in Shadyside.  Besides working and caring for his family, David enjoyed fishing, collecting coins, and watching his favorite football team, the Steeler’s.  David was known for his extraordinary cooking and his love of entertaining others.

David transitioned on December 30, 2020.  He will be eternally missed by his devoted wife Carmen (Renee) Cottrell; his children Michael Butler, David, Lashawn, and Samantha Cottrell; his brother Ricardo Cottrell; sisters Darcell Hanner and Rosie Hammond; his 17 grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
