Lela Sanders was born in Clarksville, Pennsylvania on July 22, 1943. She was the daughter of Thomas Thompson and Lille Bell Thompson. She was raised by Minnie Lee Kemp and Paul Kemp. Lela grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Gladstone High School in 1963. She was a loving daughter and enjoyed modeling and sewing as a young adult. Lela loved to cook, entertain, travel, sing and grow vegetables in her garden. Lela was united in holy matrimony to Eddie Sanders on October 11, 1980, who preceded her in death by many years. Lela worked for many years at Fisher Scientific and the Shuman Juvenile Detention Center before her retirement. Lela was an active church member and witnessed for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, everywhere she went, often playing her trademark tambourine. And, she could do a well-choreographed “Holy Dance” when filled with the Holy Spirit. Lela was a thoughtful and devoted caregiver for many years to her mother, Minnie Kemp and husband Eddie Sanders.
Lela leaves to cherish her memory sisters, Juanita Moore; Anna Ramrattan; Jacqueline Sutton; one brother in love, Raymond Sutton III; one sister in love, Suzanne Thompson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
After a lengthy illness, God called home His good and faithful servant, Lela Sanders. The family wishes to acknowledge Lela’s niece, Terry Fuller, for her loving care of Lela during her illness.
