Myrtle Wood was born on Monday, August 31, 1925 to Charles and Grace Strong – Pittsburgh, PA.
On Thursday, August 26, 2021 she moved on to Glory to be with the Angels.

Work History:
Rockwell International, she had a talent for cooking, working as the head cook, later years becoming the Manager for Burton Restaurant on Homewood Ave. She retired from The Allegheny Courthouse (custodian department)
Church: She was a Member of her beloved United Methodist Church, while serving the lord she was also the church’s bookkeeper.
In later years she became a member of her new home church Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Community Service: Myrtle loved serving the lord first and foremost, she also loved serving her community. Myrtle was elected as Committee Woman for her district, she took great pride in serving her community doing whatever it took to bring awareness to issues and or if anything needed to be done to improve her community.
She loved campaigning for public official who she felt would do and bring good things to her community.She worked hard campaigning alongside one of her lifelong best friend Joy McCall, there was nothing these two couldn’t accomplish. Her proudest moment is when a ceremony was held in honor of her and best friend Joy McCall.Both were honored by the, honorable Judge Kevin Cooper and State representative Ed Gainey for their dedication and Outstanding community service work,
Children: Sons: Kenneth Barry Wood, Rodney Vincent Wood, the late Charles Wood, Daryl Strong, the late Jeffrey Wood and daughter Michelle Diggs (Russell)
Nephews and Nieces: Vicky Favor (Baltimore), George Favor (Baltimore) Kevin Favors (Leda) (Baltimore)
She leaves behind a Host of Grand Children/ Great Grand Children/ Great, Great Grand Children / also Great Nephews/Nieces and Great, Great Nephews/Nieces.
Service will be held September 1, 2021 at Carrone Baptist Church Visitation: 11am-12pm Service:12pm Interment: National Cemetery of the Alleghenies
